    **The Opportunity and Who You’ll Work With: **

    Position Type: Permanent, Full Time, Benefits Eligible

    Work Format: Onsite – 5 days per week

    Schedule: Monday – Friday. Hours are typically 08:00AM-04:00PM ET.

    Radio Boston is a local midday show that serves a rich and diverse Greater Boston. We want to be the go-to show for conversations about what's happening in our communities and who is most affected by those events. Our goal is to go deep into topics, focus on the "why?" and "how?" questions of daily news, and embrace nuanced, honest conversations.

    If this sounds exciting, we want to hear from you. We' re looking for a journalist eager to pitch story ideas that matter most to a changing region. Someone who is curious, thoughtful, rigorous and collaborative. Someone interested in daily journalism, multi-platform storytelling and community listening.

    As Producer/Director, you will be responsible for conceiving show ideas and developing them into segments and other show elements for the hour-long daily program. You will direct the live program by giving direction and time cues to the host and technical director. You will be responsible for checking the show's sound elements and ensuring they are in the correct order.

    You will be an active, collaborative member of the Radio Boston team, working closely with host, executive producer and fellow producers to deliver high-quality programming that resonates with the Greater Boston community.

    Essential Functions:

    • (50%) Pitch ideas for segments and interviews for the hour-long program. Oversee all aspects of segment production, including research, pre and post-production, scripting, tape gathering, and host preparation.
    • (25%) Direct the live show, coordinating with other team members on show elements, map out show clock, and provide live direction to host, technical director and other teammates in the control room.
    • (15%) Develop and producer off-platform show elements, engagement and audience development strategies.
    • (10%) Collaborate with team members and across the newsroom and organization on planning and news strategy.

    Required Skills

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

    Capabilities and Proficiencies:

    • An excitement about WBUR’s mission to provide an essential public good: high-quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.
    • Must pay strong attention to local news and newsmakers in Greater Boston.
    • Ability to think creatively about how to produce great conversations.
    • Ability to pitch original ideas.
    • Proficiency with Google suite.
    • Proficiency with audio editing software.
