Job Summary:
The Procurement Engineer explores the market to identify technical products that meet specified specifications and performance criteria. They analyze technical and commercial data from received responses, engage in iterative discussions with potential suppliers, and recommend the most suitable ones to engineering.
Job Duties:
- Evaluate and maintain the supplier base to align with the sourcing strategy.
- Monitors and expedites the supply process, oversees inspections, and manages the delivery to the site.
- Supports coordinating activities between suppliers and the site, including handling, storage, installation, and commissioning.
- Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers.
- Keep the ERP system updated with information from suppliers.
- Review requisitions for purchases issued by the Engineering Department to identify all requirements.
- Obtain competitive price quotations through solicitation and receipt processes.
- Generate Bid comparison schedules following departmental procedures.
- Collaborate with designers and suppliers to finalize quantity and quality details.
- Establish delivery terms, timelines, and inspection stages in coordination with the Project Management Team.
- Negotiate favorable payment terms to meet company cash flow needs and contract conditions while upholding a high level of integrity.
- Issue and update Purchase Orders as needed.
- Monitor and expedite shipments, providing schedule impact reports to key team members.
- Coordinate storage and handling requirements, reporting to the project manager and supporting change order development.
- Manage and follow up on all non-conformance report (NCR) related items, keeping team members informed of the corrective action schedule.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task with little oversight
- Proficient in reading and interpreting P&ID/PFD, GA and Fabrication drawings, specifications, and regulations
- Strong technical writing skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 3-7 years in Procurement in Contracting/Manufacturing industry desirable.
- Travel up to 10%
