Job description
Last Energy (LE) seeks a Procurement Engineer to oversee purchasing of equipment and materials for our power plant design. This candidate will use their detailed knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy industry to evaluate suppliers and negotiate purchase agreements.
This role will report directly to the VP of Engineering in our Atlanta, GA office.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages the sourcing of potential suppliers for defined scopes of work, and works with appropriate members of the project team to prequalify suppliers and establish commitment to provide proposals for such work.
- Facilitate evaluation of supplier performance, develop procurement estimates and proposals, and develop supplier relationships and establish new suppliers.
- Understand the technical and quality requirements associated with equipment, materials and services used at a power plant
- Understand design documentation as necessary to make determinations for relevant suppliers.
- Update Supply Chain documentation based on completed evaluations.
- Perform all subcontract formation duties including prequalification of bidders, solicitation of proposals, proposal evaluations, source selection recommendations, negotiation of contract terms and conditions, conformance, formation and execution.
- Facilitate all commercial meetings with vendors to ensure terms, conditions and contractual obligations are understood and executed in a manner that meets cost and schedule requirements.
- Actively support & participate in resolving supplier delivery, quality or commercial issues which have been escalated to the procurement team.
- Manages supplier submittals to facilitate the execution of agreements.
- Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in procurement
- Familiarity working with project management teams.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence/motivate others.
- Proven ability of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
- Proven ability of devising and leading implementation of new approaches to problems encountered.
- Understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
- Understanding of logistics, freight, and tax implications.
- Oracle software experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
