Procurement Category Specialist

American National is seeking a full-time, Category Specialist team member who will primarily support the enterprise wide, marketing team. You will actively research, compare, engage in demonstrations, and make product/vendor recommendations for your client group. You will also use your background in procurement services to negotiate contracts. To be successful in the position, the individual selected must have experience with contract negotiations, exemplary written and verbal communication, and innate critical analysis skills. 

 

Placement Locations: Springfield, MO. (Preferred) & League City, TX.
 
What Will You Do?

  • Support the marketing team's goals, sourcing, comparative analysis, vendor management, and contract negotiations
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term procurement strategies that incorporate contracts, procurement tools, and supplier management techniques
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including members of senior leadership, to identify opportunities, and combined standardize goods and services 
  • Lead high-level procurement projects, developing strategy for sourcing, supplier selection, total cost of ownership evaluation, return on investment, cost negotiation, and contract language negotiation
  • Build and maintain positive business relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Perform annual spend analysis and category management plan for assigned portfolio
  • Recommend and implement changes to achieve cost reductions and efficiencies
  • Safeguard compliance protocols

 
Qualifications 

  • Professional relevant work experience (bachelor's degree, preferred)
  • Customer service work experience 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Demonstrated success with business contract negotiations (Rates, terms, amendments)
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to varying audiences 
  • Project management skills
