The University of Indianapolis is seeking a positive and detail-oriented Processing Specialist to support the Office of Financial Aid. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position. The Processing Specialist plays a critical role in helping students access financial aid at the University. The position works closely with other members of the financial aid team on the administration of federal and private loan programs, athletic aid, and other special award programs. In addition, the Processing Specialist provides customer service to current and prospective students as well as counseling to students and parents regarding application procedures for numerous financial aid programs.

Responsibilities- Processing Specialist

  • Provide general programmatic oversight for federal, private and alternative loan programs, including management of electronic transmission of loan application data and monitoring of loan processing status
  • Assist in the administration of athletic aid at the University and the counseling of student-athletes on interaction of athletic support and other aid
  • Support other members of the Office of Financial Aid with financial aid package evaluations, award adjustments, and other routine procedures, as needed, to ensure accurate and compliant system processing and aid awarding
  • Provide outstanding customer service while counseling students and families on the eligibility criteria and application procedures for federal, stat, university, and outside financial aid programs
  • Use problem solving abilities to identify and resolve issues with processing or disbursement of financial aid awards
  • Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior and abide by the University's policies, procedures, and rules in performing employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies
  • Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned

Qualifications- Processing Specialist

  • At least two years of customer service or office support required
    • Financial aid or other school experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
