Job description

SUMMARY


The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. We endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.


The Bilingual Process Navigator provides support for parties undergoing the Center’s Response & Resolution process, as well as other stakeholders who contact the Center, by providing educational materials regarding the process, answering questions, and connecting them with relevant resources for support.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • Correspond via email and telephone with claimants, respondents, their advisors, reporting parties, National Governing Body (NGB) staff, local/regional club leaders, and other stakeholders as needed, utilizing trauma-informed methodologies and demonstrating thoughtfulness and sensitivity to the diversity thereof
  • Use active listening skills to address concerns/issues voiced by claimants, respondents, their advisors, and LAOs, providing them with information on available resources, support services, and typical human responses to trauma and crisis
  • Serve as a neutral and impartial navigator for the Center’s Response & Resolutions (R&R) process by providing information to and answering any questions raised by claimants, respondents, and other parties
  • Communicate with claimants, respondents, their advisors, and other stakeholders in a respectful and empathetic manner, while maintaining neutrality and appropriate professional boundaries
  • Follow crisis response protocols addressing specific mental health and/or physical health concerns reported by claimants, respondents, and their advisors
  • Create personalized safety plans for claimants, respondents, and their advisors tailored to address specific areas of concern, minimize possibility for confrontation, and mitigate potential health or safety risks
  • Provide 30-day updates/check-ins to claimants and respondents involved in open and active cases
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and records in the Center’s case management system, providing manager and investigative team with time-sensitive updates
  • Maintain an extensive nationwide database of relevant resources and support services for claimants, respondents, their families, and other relevant stakeholders, such as sexual violence response advocacy, trauma-informed therapy, mental health assistance, athlete ombudsman services, 24/7 helplines, victim of crime compensation, and other resources, utilitizing internet serach engines as needed to locate the most relevant support options
  • Attend quarterly USOPC Athlete Safety Meetings and develop positive working relationships with NGB staff, USOPC staff, and athlete ombuds
  • Collaborate with Prevention Education and Training teams to provide relevant front-line information and create process education resource material for each stage of the investigative process
  • Develop and conduct internal and external trainings related to the R&R process, resources, safety planning, trauma-sensitive interactions, and other related topics
  • Develop and update culturally relevant written resources
  • Coordinate with Research, Data, & Evaluation team to track and regularly report on both number and type of resource referrals utilized by parties
  • Collaborate with Development, Compliance, and Intake teams regarding NGBs’ processes

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, neurobiology, psychology, interdisciplinary studies, human development, counseling, social sciences, or similar
  • 2 years of experience working within an investigative office, sex abuse response/prevention, or similar environment, coordinating resources and support, as well as advising parties involved in an investigative process regarding the policies and procedures governing said process.
  • Deep understanding of the issues surrounding sexual misconduct and abuse, and demonstrated program experience and commitment to the creation of safe and respectful environments
  • Knowledge of the neurobiology of trauma, the effects of trauma, and experience providing trauma-informed care to others
  • Understanding of how one’s intersectional identities (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability) impact their experience with interpersonal violence and the systems created to address those experiences
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to adapt to an evolving environment, consistent attention to detail in all facets of one’s responsibilities
  • Ability to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with a case management system
  • Working knowledge and competency with all applications in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet browsers and search engines
  • Bilingual, English and another language, with spoken and written fluency

WORK REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT


  • Standard office equipment
  • Office environment in multi-story, dog-friendly building
  • Some night and weekend work hours
  • Some overnight travel required

COMPENSATION


This is a full-time exempt position. The salary range for this position is $57,100 - $63,100 annually and will be commensurate with background and experience.
