SUMMARY:
Supervise a team of employees with a focus on safety, quality, and production. Align and implement daily activities to departmental goals and objectives. Provide support to team in day to day tasks. Build and maintain positive working relationships with production teams, operations leadership, quality assurance, engineering, supply chain, and customer service. Read, analyze, and interpret production/staffing schedules; provide real time corrective action plan to production leadership. A Process Leader is experienced in manufacturing, leads team members through resolving problems, and strives to continuously improve performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly supervises and oversees the day-to-day operations of a group of employees to assure a smooth workflow.
  • Ensures adequate staffing in order to meet production requirements (recommends/assigns overtime, communicates staffing shortages/overages to production leadership, understands staffing policies and procedures).
  • Organizes and facilitates team meetings (safety, standard work refresher training, quality related topics, etc.).
  • Maintains and updates the production schedule.
  • Provides input to team leader regarding individual team member performance.
  • Understands and executes the production schedule.
  • Communicates, interprets, and supports overall departmental and organizational goals.
  • Advises production leadership on developing and revising work instructions for both new and existing procedures.
  • Interprets data and applies mathematical concepts to production and quality related issues.
  • Reads, analyzes and interprets operations work instructions.
  • Effectively presents information and responds to questions from team members and other departmental managers.
  • Educates and encourages team members to align with self-directed work team philosophy.
  • Monitors, supports, and leads initiatives that represent good manufacturing practices.
  • Handles unusual or difficult inquiries/situations through direct personal action and refers to the Team Leader.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
  • Trains or delegates training to experienced team members.
  • Researches and recommends process improvements opportunities.
  • Promotes teamwork, trust, accountability, and respect within the team by leading by example.
  • Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

  • Will maintain process operator qualifications and run equipment as required
  • Executes line clearances, quality checks, and change-over validations.

QUALFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of production or warehouse experience.
  • Required to work all shifts to include weekends when necessary.
  • Required to work overtime if necessary.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude/dexterity.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency.
  • Required to lift up to 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree or more than 60 credits towards a Bachelor's degree.
  • Production/operations experience.
  • Skilled in team building, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient at solving practical problems.
  • Skilled in writing reports, presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, and internal customers.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft office suite programs.
  • Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience developing and implementing programs to include tracking, analysis, reporting and problem solving of specific productions issues.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of closure manufacturing.
  • Skilled in applying mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong problem solving skills in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Basic operations experience for all production equipment (cork printers & coaters, cap making machines, capsule making machines).

  • Stand and walk up to 90 percent of the workday.
  • Push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, balance, climb, handle and grasp, twist/turn, and crawl.
  • Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to the following:
  • Uneven walking surfaces.
  • Noise level is loud, therefore requiring hearing protection.
  • Exposure to dust and fumes.
  • Concrete as the primary working surface.
  • Indoor temperatures fluctuate from winter to summer.
  • Outdoor temperatures fluctuating from winter to summer (between 28-110 degrees).

Compensation
Hiring Hourly Rate: $36.13.
