Job Description
Teledyne Battery Products is seeking a skilled Process Improvement Engineer to join or team! The engineer will be responsible for leading, facilitating and implementing Lean Manufacturing practices across all departments of the company. This position will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, quality & safety standards. Expectation is to improve safety and quality, increase efficiency and customer satisfaction while reducing waste and costs. Industrial manufacturing experience required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for plant wide implementation of Lean Manufacturing Methodology.
  • Provides coaching / training and cultural guidance on lean principles and tools to all employees.
  • Plans and facilitates continuous improvement activities to include Kaizen events, 6S (5S+Safety) and the creation of the visual factory of excellence.
  • Develops and implement plans to eliminate waste, improve process efficiency and reduced cycle times.
  • Conduct process mapping to identify value-added and non-value-added activities.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow.
  • Designs layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Recommends and implements Process Improvements that will enhance manufacturing, quality and reduce cost of parts and assemblies.
  • Leads and participates in multiple Lean and Six Sigma projects focused on product and quality system improvements.
  • Recommends and/or design tooling, fixtures, special machinery, and equipment to facilitate the manufacture of parts and assemblies.
  • Performs failure analysis to determine root cause and apply appropriate problem-solving methods.
  • Monitor the implementation of lean initiatives to ensure desired results are achieved.
  • Provides manufacturing support in areas of throughput improvement, line balancing and quality improvement.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate findings and proposed solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from a four-year college or university in a related field and 5+ years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen.
  • Proven track record of leading and implementing Process Improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately 15%.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (or equivalent) highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP...)

Salary Range:
$59,400.00-$79,310.000
