Process Improvement Coordinator (PIC)
Reports to: Production Manager/GM
Department: Office
Job Status: Full-Time / Salary
Mobility Profile: On Location
Position Summary: Champion continuous improvement of the production work environment and all facility production processes. Manage the entire communication center program for the facility including Facility IT support. Serve as the Lean expert as needed to continuously improve production and process efficiencies, implement lean tools, and coordinate training programs as needed to support all the above.
Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Work with Department Managers, Production Managers, and General Manager to identify Lean projects, then coordinate with facility fabricator and/or outside vendors as needed to expedite implementation. Prioritize projects and execute a game plan to implement including development and submittal of necessary CARs.
  • Collaborate each day to resolve Lean issues and determine root causes. Collaborate with Department Managers and team members when you see opportunities that need addressing instead of letting opportunities continue.
  • Lead the Process Improvement Idea board process and committee. Meet with the committee bi-weekly to move ideas through the process.
  • Collaborate to establish and develop Monthly PIE submittals. Submittal includes all necessary presentation information and support data.
  • Collect data for daily COMM Center slideshows - overtime reports, OSHA recordable info, QA audits, Turnover information, hire date anniversaries, birthdays, weekly safety walk scores, weekly housekeeping scores.
  • Transfer data into spreadsheets to track history and identify areas to improve on.
  • Create spreadsheets/graphs to evaluate data in easy-to-understand format; link info to the slideshows so it can be shared with the production team daily.
  • Create PowerPoint slideshows for use daily - this will include inspirational slides, safety slides, daily tailgate info and any plant news.
  • Download updated slideshows onto flash drives every day and plug them into all TVs for morning meetings.
  • Collect Safety, Quality, Housekeeping and Connection data and transfer to Department Manager weekly evaluations and other paperwork by Friday at noon. Keep up with it daily so that we do not get behind.
  • Coach all team members if you see any unsafe acts, make sure team members are working in a safe manner and are wearing their PPE. (hardhats, ear plugs, safety glasses, fall protection, saw safety, cut resistant gloves).
  • Maintain a positive attitude. Lead the teams to success, engage with team members, help them to learn, grow, and be their very best. Lead by example.
  • Interact with the Office staff and Production management to provide IT support as needed. This includes identifying IT/network issues and coordinating with local IT vendors and Home Office IT as needed. Help with requests for computers, printers, and other IT related equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Engineering type degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years prior Continuous Improvement or Lean experience.
  • Demonstratable mastery of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and gain understanding as a leader in our organization.
  • Effective motivation skills/techniques to encourage team to exceed performance objectives.
  • Honesty and Fairness in all situations to cultivate an environment of trust and accountable.
  • Clear leadership attributes above and beyond normal job requirements including Positive influence with others.
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Work includes use of standard office productivity equipment.

Travel Requirements:
  • Possible plant and Home Office visits to see what other plants are doing relative to the PIC position.
