Description/Job Summary

PURPOSE
To support PITT OHIO's strategic process engineering and productivity team. Aid in refining our operational processes and improving data quality. Drive engineering project solutions and productivity metrics at the terminal level. Work within cross functional teams resulting in continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Maintain and create productivity and other metric based PowerBI reports for Upper Management
  • Data collection and analysis within SQL to generate and support Process Improvements in the operation
  • Work within cross functional teams to develop and implement new technology at the terminals in order to automate processes and cut costs
  • Support terminal personal when issues arise
  • Identify new business improvements or revenue opportunities through revised operating processes or revised costing
  • Create and maintain project documentation
  • Use Lean techniques and tools to recommend productivity improvements
  • Update and improve process documentation and flow charts using Visio
  • Implement strategies and tactics to increase driver and dock productivity and increase operational efficiency
  • Travel to terminals in the network to observe operations and recommend improvements
  • Support the other Engineers in the department
  • Remain flexible to additional responsibilities as required; react to change effectively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, and/or another Engineering/Analytical related discipline
  • Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Software products
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI or another Business Intelligence software
  • Experience with SQL and Snowflake
  • Effective Statistical analysis skills
  • Previous Lean experience
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking skills are required
  • Persuasive presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Previous transportation logistics experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with GIS software, such as GIS is also desirable
  • Fluent command in the English language is required to efficiently communicate with internal and external customers
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Candidates must be able to efficiently communicate, observe operations facilities and activities, and learn our business from the "trenches".
  • Sedentary work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of forces frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are only required occasionally.
  • Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Typical exposure to interior environmental conditions like air conditioning and dust; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Talking and hearing required to communication with and listen to others to share or receive information. Occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others.
  • Up to 50% travel required
