Danfoss in Ames, Iowa is seeking a Process Engineering Intern who will work closely with our Process and Manufacturing Engineers in many areas of our manufacturing facility to assist in various assembly line designs and improvements, support new manufacturing technologies being implemented, and improve inventory management.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Help design/improve assembly line layouts and flow
- Provide detailed data collection and analysis (time studies, material flow, waste analysis)
- Work with supply chain to improve inventory management
- Assist in implementing new equipment on assembly lines (including performing capability studies)
- Help design and implement Poka-Yokes on assembly lines
- Implement manufacturing controls on assembly line
- Help design and implement process improvements on assembly line
- Help improve ergonomics throughout assembly process
- Work with manufacturing excellence group to support implementing newest manufacturing technology (AR/VR, simulation/digital twins, collaborative robotics, AGVs, advanced vision systems, advanced Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), automation)

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering/Industrial Technology, Electrical or Agricultural Engineering. Sophomores and Juniors preferred.
- Work availability: 10-20 hours/week during Fall/Spring semesters, 40 hours/week during Summer months
- Candidates must be located within 50 miles of the Ames work site
- Able to interact with all levels of organization (Shop floor to Management)
- Familiar with basic hand tools
- CAD and simulation experience a plus
- PLC and C++ programming knowledge a plus
