Overview:
The Process Engineer / Operations Manager will be responsible for the production target, capital and process improvement at our Baytown salt manufacturing and packaging plant. In addition, this person will assist the plant manager as directed in supporting daily operations and managing capital projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing shift supervisors, operators and maintenance personnel in a production facility. This individual will also be tasked with implementing new and/or improving existing programs for safety, quality and efficiency, and should be experienced in managing a production facility that adheres to strict food and safety regulations.
Job Description:
- Responsible for plant maintenance at the facility, including management of maintenance supervisor and personnel. This includes promoting safe work practices, maximizing machine up-time, meeting SQF and FSMA requirements, and the effective and efficient use of maintenance resources.
- Streamline maintenance processes focusing on better safety performance, reliable work planning, and the use of SAP and/or other relevant resources to improve efficiencies.
- Train, grow, and develop direct reports through positive coaching and challenging expectations.
- Work closely with the plant manager to effectively manage the capital process, which includes identifying new capital projects, providing justification, for investment, and leading projects that improve safety, quality, efficiency or reliability.
- Ensure the delivery of plant objectives through established metrics and regular reporting
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and at least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing/production plant, ideal with some packaging experience.
- Working knowledge of bulk solids handling equipment in corrosive environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Relentless approach to continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership skills and proven success at implementing new strategies, guidelines or systems that directly improve safety, quality and/or efficiency.
- Proven success leading or managing capital projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organization.
- Operations role that could require weekend or night shift responsibilities occasionally.
- Minimal travel required.

- This position is only available to US Citizens and GC holders.
- We are only considering candidates local to the Houston area only right now. However, if you have ties to Houston such as family or a Houstonian want to return, that would be okay. However, there is no relocation package for this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
