Job Description:
At Doran & Ward Packaging, we have a heritage of delivering quality printing and packaging solutions for our customers since 1952. Join our team of tenured long term team members as a Printing Press Operator. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Printing Press Operator to set up and operate our flexographic and offset Printing Presses. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing efficiencies and minimizing waste while safely following SOPs. The Printing Press Operator will be accountable for running and maintaining printed product that meets all quality standards as designated by the organization and the customer.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately setting up Printing Press according to job specifics and following SOPs
- Work in job order according to job schedule
- Quality testing at press including conductivity, durameter readings, PH reading, densitometer, color brightness and other assigned testing
- Inspecting quality of printed product
- Troubleshooting and making adjustments to press to correct print quality or errors
- Mix and color match ink in addition to making adjustments to ink color as required
- Troubleshooting Printing Press breakdowns
- Make adjustments to press run speeds to maintain quality and maximize output
- Keeping press area clean, safe and organized
- Keep press operating accurately with minimal downtime
- Assisting with preventative maintenance
- Press wash-ups and plate cleaning when job is complete
- Accurately completing all paperwork and computer data entry for each job completed
- Support other Press Operators as necessary
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Eye for quality, detail and ability to differentiate print and colors (must pass color screening)
- Capable of working at a fast pace
- Knowledge and understanding of Printing Presses mechanics and procedures
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of printing SOP’s
- Basic computer knowledge and comfort using computer for job schedule and orders
- Mechanical aptitude for using hand tools and troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions
- Ability to read and use both standard and metric measuring devices/rulers
- High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED, HiSet, etc)
