Performs digital imaging and printing services related work in the Support Services Division. Work involves setting up, operating, cleaning, and performing minor maintenance on related equipment and machines. Work requires contact with departmental employees and governmental agencies. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates with customers, evaluates job orders and selects equipment and materials for job; advises customers regarding technical service operations.
- Determines and inspects layout for jobs, ensuring customer specifications are met.
- Fastens, prepares, packages, or stacks materials and products using hand tools and fastening equipment; as required, moves items and materials related to these duties.
- Inspects materials and products for defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Informs supervisor and/or lead worker regarding issues related to operating problems; initializes systems when necessary.
- Maintains stockroom, reprographic files, map, plate, negative and microfilm files; as required, moves items and materials related to these activities.
- May train other employees
- Sets up and operates bindery equipment, printers, copiers, and other related equipment.
- Performs emergency power-down procedures for both software and hardware.
- Provides customers with technical advice concerning service operations.
- Verifies job order information for size, color, type of paper and color of ink.
- Assists with the maintenance and monitoring of machines and equipment, prepares and maintains production/operating documents, logs, and records; prepares reports.
- Performs and maintains print shop inventory.
- Proofs general appearance of final product to ensure it meets standards and specifications.
- Monitors and evaluates production performance, troubleshoots and resolves equipment problems.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education. Relevant education or technical training may substitute for one (1) year of experience. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 1 year in reprographic services, digital printing services, bindery services, or related work experience (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

- Applicable computer systems and applications
- Capabilities and limitations of equipment
- Printing procedures
- Bindery equipment maintenance and operations
- Inventory management methods
- Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines and specification codes

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Subject to noise
- Works in narrow aisles or passageways
- Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
- Stooping-bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist
- Crouching-bending body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine
- Reaching-extending hand{s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Standing-prolonged periods of time
- Lifting-raising objects from lower to higher position/horizontally to a different position
- Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
