This position is remote and does not require regular in-office presence.

We are seeking a Principal WordPress Developer to drive the business through development and integration that ensures business system applications deliver measurable value. The candidate will provide support for specialized and ad hoc requests for research, technical information and customized or one-off solutions. Deliver to a future view of technical solutions and business process, managed by a delivery plan integrated with other IT and business areas, as well as to a roadmap that makes progress toward a future state. Ensure the ongoing health of the business systems, measured by agreed level of services.
What you do
- Contributes to the practice of application development.
- Designs and develops software programs and solutions with the highest complexity, with future impact in mind.
- Unit tests and implements software programs.
- Maintains software applications.
- Analyzes problems of the highest complexity and provides solutions.
- Creates and maintains necessary documentation.
- Collaborates with IT business associates and individuals in other areas.
- Evaluate new plugins and tools; research best practices and recommends solutions.
- Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms.
- Ensures all applications are documented according to standards.
- Assists in defining development guidelines and standards.
What you bring
- 4-7 years of demonstrated on-the-job programming experience required
- 3-5 years of WordPress development experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Knowledge and experience required in the following:
- Proven knowledge of surrounding information systems and application architecture standards.
- Develop solutions to problems using a disciplined development process.
- Support major projects that span a broad range of applications.
- Plans and schedules the installation and deployment of new plugins, WordPress upgrades and fixes to all environments, and security fixes within systems to ensure production readiness.
- “On call” application support will be expected with hours determined by business partners. Includes joining bridge calls to help diagnose and solve problems within supported applications.
- Participate in monthly patches including confirming application functionally upon patch completion, and automation of testing.
- Develops, executes, and documents test plans.
- Monitor health of applications including evaluation of log files, establishing baselines including use of predictive analytics to find data irregularities/trends and predict future issues and/or needs.
- Performance testing, caching and optimize application code to meet standards: ADA, Core Web Vitals, Page Speed
- Must be willing to quickly and independently learn new technologies.
- Knowledge and experience desired in the following:
- Desired Technical Skills: WordPress and plugins, PHP, Divi (visual theme/page builders), HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks Vue / React, built tools Vite, SOAP/RESTful Web Services, SQL (MariaDB), Docker, Linux, Power shell/Bash scripting, Jenkins, Git (BitBucket), Jira, Confluence, Elastic & Kibana, Amazon Web Services (AWS) including AWS WAF, EC2, ELB, LightSail, Cloudfront, RDS, S3.
