Job Summary

The Ellison Institute of Technology is seeking a talented and passionate Principal Scientist (Tumor Microenvironment Research & Operations) to join its team. In this role, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing EIT's understanding of how the Tumor Microenvironment influences cancer progression and treatment responses. This will be achieved by acting as a coordinator for the Chief Translational Research Officer, integrating various work streams, and promoting collaboration between the program head and their team. It’s important to note that this role will not involve conducting independent research projects but will instead focus on providing scientific training and mentoring to support the growth and development of team members, supporting grant applications, and aiding in the preparation of research reports to ensure the smooth and effective operation of our research initiatives.

The Principal Scientist (Tumor Microenvironment Research & Operations) is responsible for performing the following job duties:

Job Accountabilities:

Assistance to Program Head

  • Assist the program head in coordinating research activities and resource allocation, facilitate planning and execution of goals and objectives, and track progress of projects.

Staff and Student Guidance

  • Provide guidance and direction to staff and graduate students on a regular basis, providing guidance on their research projects, experimental techniques, and career development.

Experimental Design and Execution

  • Support the design and execution of experiments, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and technologies to characterize and manipulate the Tumor Microenvironment. This includes multi-cell type tissue cultures, flow cytometry, live-cell imaging viability assays, live-cell imaging, and expression profiling.

Tumor Microenvironment Research

  • Support cutting-edge research in tumor cell biology. Major investigations include studying the interactions between tumor cells and their surrounding microenvironment components (e.g., stromal cells, immune cells, extracellular matrix) using 3D cell culture models.

Data Analysis

  • Offer data analysis assistance to fellow team members for the purpose of interpreting data and deriving significant insights and conclusions.

Grant Proposal Writing

  • Collaborate with the research team on grant proposal development. Contribute to the writing and preparation of grant applications, ensuring alignment with research objectives and scientific rigor.

Literature Review

  • Stay current with the latest advancements in tumor cell biology and Tumor Microenvironment Research, integrating new knowledge into ongoing projects.

Minimum Experience: Seasoned researcher with 10+ years of relevant experience and a strong background in scientific mentoring. Proficiency in a wide range of laboratory techniques, including primary cell culture (2D & 3D models), molecular biology and microscopy. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in date analysis software. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Tumor cell biology, with a strong focus on the Tumor Microenvironment.
