Let's do this. Let's change the world. The use of Biomarkers and Diagnostics is central to understanding how our therapeutics work and identifying patients that benefit most from these therapies. Accordingly, the Clinical Biomarkers & Diagnostics (CBD) function plays a critical role in advancing our drug development programs and is accountable for the development of biomarker and diagnostics strategy across our pipeline. The Translational Pathology group within CBD is responsible for implementing the biomarker and diagnostics strategy. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to help drive Digital Pathology implementation including machine learning/artificial intelligence algorithms to support diagnostics and biomarker strategies. This individual will work closely with internal groups and external CROs/collaborators for Digital Pathology algorithm development and implementation.
In this vital role you will successfully partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive implementation of biomarker and diagnostics assay development
- The Digital PathologyPrincipal Scientist will be accountable for implementation of Digital Pathology including image analysis and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms for clinical trial biomarkers including pharmacodynamic, mechanism of resistance, patient selection and biomarker discovery
- The Digital PathologyPrincipal Scientist will provide subject matter expertise in tissue-based image analysis and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms for application to clinical trial specimen whole slide images including providing QC/selection of H&E images and associated metadata, verification of vendor partner analysis, and strategic decision making in response to findings
- The Digital PathologyPrincipal Scientist will be accountable for delivering internal and external image analysis and AI/ML solutions for clinical trial assays across therapeutic areas through management of individual contributors, cross-functional scientific and operational partners, and external partnerships

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable] and 2 years of Digital Pathology and AI/ML experience
Or
Master's degree and 5 years of Digital Pathology and AI/ML experience
Or
Bachelor's degree and 7 years of Digital Pathology and AI/ML experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experienced scientist with expertise in Digital Pathology and clinical applications of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and with relevant postdoctoral academic, clinical and/or industry pathology experience. PhD is a plus but not a requirement.
- A proven Digital Pathology and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) track record with credible publications
- Demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) clinical application
- Expertise with human diseases across therapeutic areas
- Working knowledge of histology and tissue-based assays such as immunohistochemistry
- Expertise with image analysis software and algorithm design
- In depth experience with the discovery, characterization, clinical validation and utilization of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) :
- Awareness of the challenges of implementing artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) technologies in the clinical setting
- Direct experience in development, outsourcing and validation of clinically applicable artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms
- Demonstrated excellence in independently leading and conducting research and ability to summarize information/data in a concise, easy to understand manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently
- High level of business awareness

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

178,154.00 USD - 204,574.00 USD
