Schrödinger seeks a Principal Scientist, Biophysics, to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a bench scientist on the Biophysics team with the Schrödinger Therapeutics Group, you'll collaborate with scientists and drug developers who have experience with all common target classes and therapeutic areas. We're supported by over 100 software developers and engineers, as well as a large-scale compute infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. What you'll do:
- Ideate, design, and execute biophysical experiments (SPR, MST, ITC, NanoDSF, mass photometry, spectroscopy) in support of drug discovery projects, with an emphasis on hit finding and target enablement
- Work as a biophysical lead for drug discovery programs, managing experimental design, implementation, and execution of biophysical assays in support of drug discovery projects
- Provide biophysical expertise to program teams and help enable biophysical and biochemical assay development for characterization and screening
- Transfer optimized biophysical assays to CRO partners and manage CRO relationships to support, guide, and troubleshoot biophysical and biochemical experiments
- Review, analyze, and interpret biophysical data and troubleshoot assays relevant to drug discovery projects
What you should have:
- PhD with at least three years of relevant hands-on experience in industry (five preferred)
- Expertise in establishing and troubleshooting biophysical assays with deep experience in SPR, MST, NanoDSF and/or ITC
- Hands-on experience in running binding and mode of action assays for compound screening, MOA studies and establishing SAR Background in CRO management for execution of biophysical experiments
We'd prefer to hire someone with:
- Experience with SPR using ABA injections and/or MST for MoA, ternary complex formation and competition assays
- Extensive experience in hit identification/validation for drug targets in the undrugged space
- Background in structural biology (X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM)
