The Advertising Trust and Safety team plays a key role in protecting users, advertisers, and publishers for Microsoft Advertising in support of Search, Display and Native advertising through user and platform safety strategies, ad and traffic policy standards, ecosystem quality and enforcement, and Safety solutions. We are seeking a Principal Program Manager - Advertising Trust and Safety to join the Advertising Trust and Safety Team to manage and drive policy and risk mitigation standards, best practices and enforcement methods, solve user, platform and brand Safety scenarios and drive solutions in support of growth and rapid innovation. This position engages directly with our key stakeholders of sales, customers and engineering and is responsible for managing policy standards and enforcement strategy in service of government, regulation and compliance enablement, threat intelligence, platform safety, and supporting risk mitigation across the ecosystem of users, advertisers, product and publishers with a global mindset and AI readiness. This includes responsibility for policy purpose, vision and education, regulatory solutions, comprehension from the organization and customers of how policy will be applied to them and optimizing enforcement to evolve with growth opportunities while anticipating and managing risk. Responsibilities
Team Leadership

  • Depth in resource planning and budget management, building consensus and joint priorities for cross team initiatives including technical and operational programs.

Thought Leadership
  • Lead and influence policy strategy discussions, provide thought leadership and recommendations on our policy position and set expectations on impacts to the business.
  • Anticipate and support industry and regulatory impacts to our business and lead policy strategy to ensure sustainable revenue and trusted industry position.
  • Coordinate quality strategic direction alignment and comprehension across the org through planning with executive leadership and legal.
  • Advance and adapt risk enforcement via Artificial Intellegence and Language Large Language Model solutions.
  • Assist in escalation closure and create improvement accountability through joint action plans.
  • Research and analyze trends in the industry relating to consumer / customer experiences and identity / data / privacy to identify emerging risks, policy gaps or global trends leading to solutions.

Insights and Evolution
  • Support and represent the quality story with our stakeholders and customers. Drive comprehension of issue trends and compliance remedy needs.
  • Consume continuous feedback and drive improvements to policy language, FAQs and quality requirements in support of improved comprehension, ongoing growth and optimization.
  • Raise trends and threat vector opportunities for platform features / improvements and connect the dots more broadly across the Microsoft organization and executive leadership.
  • Use rigorous, effective, and data-driven decision making including conducting analysis to understand marketplace repercussions of policy changes, or otherwise utilize marketplace analysis inputs to inform policy updates.

Education and Purpose
  • Represent the strategic policy positions to leadership, stakeholder teams, engineering, and other organizations to drive strategic discussions and compliance solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal operational and marketing teams to standardize the internal and external policy-related resource material. Amplify policy expertise by supporting training and policy education resources.
  • Contribute to policy change management processes, go-to-market, and marketplace management strategy. Partner with stakeholder teams to coordinate policy enforcement and communications.

Stakeholder Coordination
  • Manage direct relationships with sales, customer service, business development and other partners to effectively drive awareness and understanding of the policies so that they can communicate policy expectations. Set and review policy and quality requirements for external publishing.
  • Partner with engineering and sales on policy and enforcement roadmap, including the intake of net new policy requests, new product considerations, new partner opportunities, and policy modification/evolution.
  • Support stakeholder and legal inquiries and escalations.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technical program/product management, coding, software development/delivery work
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of customer-facing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of managing a global team.
  • 7+ years of search, display and native advertising experience.
  • 7+ years of previous experience in Trust and Safety, policy and/or regulatory or risk management (public or commercial)
  • 7+ years in the online industry with experience in global operational best practices.
  • 7+ years project, program and/or online digital media policy expertise.
  • Experience in building programs that support strategic customer and account manager engagement to offer policy insights and best practices while balancing our business requirements.
    Multi-lingual
  • 5+ years of previous experience in at least two or more of the following areas: Trust and Safety, threat intelligence, policy/regulatory or risk management (public or commercial), management consulting, media/advertising, and analytics and research.

Customer Solutions Architecture M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
