Job description

Job Description

Salary:

Who are we?
Thesis is a digital agency in Portland, OR. We're hell-bent on humanizing the relationship between people and brands, which starts with our teams: real people making real work. Come as you are. Bring what you bring. We’ll all be better for it.

The name is new to us, but we've been around for 20 years. In contrast to our former identity that reflected what we do, we chose the name Thesis as it better represents how we do it: a full-service agency believing our strength is in our approach—believing the work we make is only as strong as the thought—and data—we put behind it.

That sounds intense. But make no mistake, we also play real hard. All while respecting that work/life balance.

The Job

Our Client's Newsroom is the beating heart of the Global Communications function and an essential tool for our client's enterprise. The channel informs media, investors, consumers, and employees on the priority products, partnerships, events, and messages for our client's multiple brands.

Our clients Global Storytelling & Publishing team, is seeking a Newsroom manager to support this vital channel. The ideal person is skilled in writing, editing, manipulating, and packaging assets, communicating clearly and quickly, and able to make connections across the business. They should be a self-starter who can pivot quickly when plans change and feel confident reaching out to teams and individuals to collaborate and find smart solutions. Not least: We believe the person most successful in the role will be a person who loves sport.

As a person, you are:

  • An experienced leader of projects and teams. You have an intimate understanding of stakeholder needs and business operations in order to navigate the client experience for mutual benefit.
  • A big-picture thinker with a pulse on the gritty details. You are ever-aware and planning for the collective business goal, quick on your feet to pivot and implement change when needed.
  • Tactful. You are skilled in building healthy relationships with clients whom you don’t interact with on a day-to-day basis. You are confident in your ability to navigate hard conversations and guide our stakeholders to mutually beneficial decisions with the health of our business guiding your decision-making.
  • Skilled leader and collaborator. You employ your past experience to effectively guide and inspire your team while being receptive to change, adapting and progressing your approach to ensure ongoing success.
  • A seasoned Project Manager/Producer. You understand the challenges of large-scale, fast-paced, and ever-changing creative projects.
  • Steady. You manage and resolve conflicts and challenges through proactive feedback, kind conversation, and problem-solving. You navigate and balance the needs of the business, and the needs of your stakeholders.
  • Perceptive. You can read a room and stay one step ahead of potential risks and opportunities — all whilst cultivating and upholding critical client relationships.

As a worker, you will:

  • Reviewing story submissions and responding to respective Comms teams on the external publishing approach
  • Attending weekly Publishing meetings to discuss channel strategy for Comms-owned channels, and how to make connections across our company channels (social, YouTube, dotcom, etc.)
  • Synthesizing press release submissions — including decks, interviews, marketing materials, and assets — to draft the release copy for the Newsroom
  • Liaising with Comms teams on Newsroom drafts and inputting edits in the CMS, ensuring all assets (audio, images, video) are properly attached and displayed, to get releases over the finish line and published
  • Learning a baseline of client product history to help make sense of announcements in historical context
  • If needed, working with client and Thesis colleagues to reformat assets, including photo, video and audio
  • Supporting other Storytelling & Publishing projects as needed, based on Newsroom release workflow

As for experience, you need:

  • Minimum 8 years experience in digital design or marketing in an agency or large/enterprise setting as a producer, account manager, or project manager with advanced experience in account planning and estimation
  • Accomplished business driver with a strong record of client engagement, retention, and growth.
  • Extensive experience in digital marketing with an acute understanding of digital deliverables, marketing channels, and stakeholders’ benefits of growing their digital presence. You remain current on best practices within applicable platforms to inform process improvements.
    • Proven track record of leading by example and coaching others with positive, constructive feedback. You respectfully interact with all levels of leadership and contributors, understanding and valuing cultural differences.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Airtable or similar experience required. Understanding creative platforms and tools such as Adobe CC or Figma is a plus.
    • Expert-level prioritization skills with the ability to work on a variety of projects across multiple clients within various constraints.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Advertising/Marketing, Communications, Design or a related field. Additional 2 years experience in lieu of a degree.

Above all, be hungry to learn and grow beyond this job description.
