The Finance Governance & Analytics team serves as the strategic partner across Business Finance, their Line of Business partner teams, and the broader Finance organization to drive analytical and process governance standards and reporting. Position Summary
Extracts operations and finance data for analysis, leadership support, and responses to ad-hoc requests. Maintains tools & databases to ensure they kept up to date and in compliance with data governance standards and best practices. Develops, maintains, and enhances database tools for the broader analytics teams. Identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries. Collaborates with analytics platform owners and subject matter experts to prioritize and drive development of scalable data capabilities.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately once per week or more, depending on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Support complex data analysis projects with limited supervision from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project(s) are completed within expectations. Analyzes the data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad-hoc reports, trends, and or decisions.
- Act as a thought leader, champion Lean best practices, and demonstrate a strong technical documentation ability.
- The ability to support and communicate the team’s vision, purpose and projects are critical to the awareness, broader adoption, and scaling of PG&E’s modernized financial systems, tools, and applications (i.e., Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence applications integrated with Snowflake, Foundry, and SAP/S4 Hana).
- Extensive data processing and data analysis expertise; in the development of strategy or resolution of complex data issues.
- Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
- Works with Senior Management to develop and execute business related strategies and projects, often expanding beyond the finance organization.
- Manages extracting and transferring data to various leads, analysts, and data scientists, to support the organization’s operational needs and priorities.
- Develops comprehensive reports and presents those findings concisely across a range of audiences, from subject matter experts to senior leadership.
- Applies foundational level data science / machine learning / artificial intelligence methods to develop defensible and reproducible predictive and or optimization models. Additionally, acts as peer reviewer of simple models.
- Extracts, transforms, and loads data from dissimilar sources from across PG&E, to support the team’s machine learning feature engineering and related projects.
- As part of the Business Plan Development process and others, supports automated data routines and processes for system of record updates, reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
- 8 years of job-related experience
Desired:
- Master’s degree in marketing, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent and relevant experience.
- Advanced skills in writing SQL queries, using Microsoft SQL Server
- Maintain steady state SQL extracts to support dashboards in Excel, Power BI, Tableau
- Understanding of database management tools including Foundry, Snowflake, SAP/S4 Hana.
- Knowledgeable of base-SAS and programming languages (e.g., Python, R)
