Position Summary
Avantax is seeking a Principal, Insurance Solutions Sales Specialist, who will be responsible for driving risk management sales for insurance products to the Avantax Planning Partners (APP) organization. The Sales Specialist will partner with other members of the insurance team and APP's Financial Planning Consultants (FPCs) for all investor portfolios. This position will train and educate FPCs on our current product line, assist in the sale process with FPC clients, and support the operational requirements to place new policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and deliver ongoing risk management training programs for FPCs, CPAs, and other business partners across Avantax.
- Act as the subject matter expert on term, permanent life, TLC, and any other insurance products available to Avantax clients. Including not only the Avantax product line but also a strong knowledge of competing products and carriers.
- Work with senior management to maintain effective coverage of clients in support of retaining and growing AUA.
- Support clients through advanced case design/sales assistance directly or in coordination with other business partners across Avantax and/or outside organizations.
- Manage the pipeline of Insurance Solutions supported cases through the sales process.
- Assist in executing firm-wide initiatives, including annual business plan goals, product-related sales campaigns, and other marketing tactics geared toward raising assets.
- Drive proactive efforts of sales teams to achieve stated revenue targets.
- Report the status of pipeline management and sales campaigns to senior management.
- Complete special projects related to initiatives and ongoing sales efforts.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (MBA, CFA, CFP, and/or CIMA a plus).
- 10+ years of financial industry experience, at least 5 years in a sales role.
- Strong knowledge of investments and financial sales processes.
- Strong knowledge of risk management products.
- Consultative, client-first approach, delivering solutions, not products, to meet client needs and drive results.
- technical investment expertise, including knowledge of Annuity and Insurance products, their competitive landscape, and an in-depth understanding of capital markets and the impact of economic factors.
