Position Overview:
As an Embedded Software Engineer at Verra Mobility, you will be at the forefront of the development of software solutions for edge AI platforms. This role requires deep expertise in embedded systems, real-time software development, and AI integration. You will work on creating efficient, high-performance software that harnesses the power of AI to enable intelligent edge devices. Additionally, you will be responsible for Linux support and porting, imaging, software architecture, leading third-party collaborations, and mentoring other engineers within the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Embedded Software Development: Design, develop, and optimize software for edge AI platforms, ensuring real-time performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • AI Integration: Integrate machine learning and AI models into embedded systems, enabling advanced capabilities such as computer vision, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
  • Imaging: Work on imaging-related software components, including camera interfaces and image processing algorithms, to support AI applications.
  • Software Architecture: Define and maintain the software architecture of edge AI platforms, ensuring scalability, modularity, and maintainability.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement and fine-tune algorithms and data processing pipelines to maximize the performance of AI applications on resource-constrained embedded platforms.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop rigorous testing procedures to validate software functionality and performance, ensuring robustness in real-world scenarios.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for software design, development, and integration processes to support team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in best practices for embedded software development.
  • Leading Third Parties: Lead and manage collaborations with third-party partners and vendors to achieve strategic goals, including software integration and technology adoption.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in Linux based embedded software development, with a focus on real-time systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded system architectures and microcontroller/microprocessor platforms.
  • Experience integrating AI and machine learning models into embedded systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for staying updated on emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
