We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Principal Biomedical Engineer to spearhead product innovation, feasibility testing, and early-stage product development, with a specialized focus on bladder neuromodulation. As a Principal Biomedical Engineer, you will help lead multi-disciplinary teams in developing cutting-edge medical devices, performing exploratory product innovation and vision execution activities, and helping to formulate iota’s long term technology vision and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the early-stage medical device innovation activities, with a primary focus on advancing bladder neuromodulation technologies
- Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies and assess the technological and clinical viability of new product concepts
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineering, medical, product, and pre-clinical, to guide product ideas from concept into development
- Design, prototype, and iterate on novel solutions, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices
- Utilize engineering expertise to address complex challenges related to materials, electronics, system integration, and device-tissue interactions
- Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and scientific advancements to shape product innovation strategies
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with external partners, key opinion leaders, and research collaborators
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members
Key Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related technical field, PhD preferred.
- At least 8 years of extensive experience in leading research and innovation initiatives, particularly in the field of active implantable medical devices
- Demonstrated expertise in bladder neuromodulation technologies (e.g., sacral nerve stimulation, pudendal nerve stimulation, etc.) and a track record of successful product development
- Proven ability to conduct and oversee complex feasibility studies and translate concepts into viable products
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards governing medical device development
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for advanced design, analysis, and documentation
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and innovative environment
