MAINTENANCE JUNIOR UTILITY II

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible to assist in the general direction of management and assistIng in providing a safe and healthy environment for our employees and guests to enjoy.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist 1st, 2nd, 3rd class Engineers on day-to-day duties and special projects.
  • Assist and with the Guest room calls and Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Assist in weekly general maintenance and repairs for the hotel and at the golf course sustainable gardens.
  • Must be able to service guest room requests quickly and accurately. Supporting role to help in different Engineering projects, thus, will be partnered with a senior person if task is difficult.
  • Assist with specified equipment and areas of responsibility.
  • Detailed training on different trades and to gain working knowledge to advance in work class.
  • Assist guest room and back of the house repairs as needed.
  • Assist with obtaining price quotations and fills out requisitions for parts and supplies.
  • Assist with repair and maintenance for the hotel and golf course sustainable garden plants and aquaponic/hydroponic pump systems.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Other Duties:

  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the hotel.
  • Perform the necessary repairs to moderately complex equipment such as vacuum cleaners, toasters, lamps, and small appliances on an as needed basis. Work is performed in a workshop environment and requires working at a workbench.
  • Due to the nature of the business the individual may be required to do other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor, e.g., errands to pick up parts.
  • Assist with the water treatment for the swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
  • Assist with swimming pool and Jacuzzi maintenance/repair.
  • Assist with repairs and maintenance of the fire sprinkler pipes, valves and fire pumps.
  • Assist to perform necessary repairs to moderately complex equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Air conditioned and non-air-conditioned work areas. Work areas included interior and exterior working conditions and confined spaces. Working on ladders and above ground elevations will also be required.

Work Hours: On Call

  • Variable workdays and hours determined by manager.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, work schedules may be modified to address the company's needs.
  • Overtime work on occasion as needed.

Equipment Use:

  • Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and electrically powered tools and equipment. Specialized tools and equipment will be required for the Engineer's scope of work.
  • Basic knowledge using Windows based accounting computer software, web-based program, Excel, Word, and email software, but not required.
  • Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to computer, printer, calculators, photocopiers and postage machine, paper shredder, time clock, facsimile machines, and other general office equipment.
  • Ability to use basic hand and electric tools, including key cutting machines, lock picks, screwdrivers, hand drills, etc.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit and walk for the duration of the shift while supporting additional weight of tools and materials of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to grasp, lift or carry objects at least waist high weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach above head and support items such as wood, ceiling tiles, etc.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and awkward positions requiring crouching, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching overhead for extended periods of time and walking significantl distances throughout the facility.
  • Must be able to grasp hand tools and lift, push or pull items up to 100 lbs. is required with wheeled assistance.
  • Ability to reach in all direction while standing on a ladder, scaffolding or man lift at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Able to work under pressure with short deadlines. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently.
  • High degree of concentration, attention to detail needed for accurate data entry.
  • Ability to sort, check, count and verify numbers.

Communication Demands:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written formats.
  • Able to effectively communicate with guest in a professional, warm, and friendly manner.
  • Telephone etiquette skills needed.
  • Basic English language communication skills to fully comprehend job assignments read and understand manufacturer's instructions to adhere to safety warnings.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Any combination of education and education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training, or experience of at least two years that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid driver's license preferred, but not required.
  • Prior general maintenance work and basic knowledge of electrical/plumbing repairs, mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills, painting/wall covering, tile/grout/sealant work and agriculture, landscaping knowledge required.
