This Primate Animal Research Technologist II will be responsible for:
- Daily observation
- Research medication
- Biological sampling (blood Performs bone marrow aspiration, CSF collection, simple Surgical and post-operative support, and maintaining tether
- Daily communication with the team regarding the animal status and project
- Maintaining research and medical scheduling and coordinating with lab members as well as veterinary, husbandry, and behavioral Inventory control, supply welfare, and compliance
In order to qualify you must:
- Have five years of experience supporting complex research animal models and nonhuman primate models
- A minimum of an Associates Degree with a focus on Biological or Animal Sciences
- Experience with NHP jacket and tether systems
- Management of indwelling catheters
- Experience with staff training, SOP writing, and compliance monitoring
- Technical/sampling procedures in nonhuman primates or other large animals
- Experience with surgical assistance
- Experience with inhalant and injectable anesthesia induction and monitoring thorough understanding of large animal protocols, and regulations and ability to comply with IACUC requirements
- Able to provide for and ensure the welfare of animals under the care of this position, working effectively with veterinary and animal care staff
