Job Description

This role reports directly to the Clinical Director/Executive Director, contributing to the objectives of FR Health and its mission. While providing individual, group and family therapy, the therapist also develops, implements, presents, evaluates, and revises treatment plans; facilitates/presents educational programs to participants; and participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning and client-centered care and treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Orient new participants to the expectations of, services offered by, and treatment plan s/he will work towards while at FR Health.
  • Aid participant in setting and achieving short and long-term goals by promoting adaptive coping skills that will set the participant up for success.
  • Liaison with family, friends, partners, and outside resources to create a supportive environment and ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate the participants on behavioral health, promoting healthy resources and daily skills training to provide highest quality person-centered care.
  • Work closely with other members of the clinical team in addressing daily concerns, intervening if crisis intervention is required, and offering additional directives for care to provide highest quality person-centered care.
  • Assist participants in developing an aftercare plan so that s/he will feel confident upon exiting the program.
  • Uphold participant confidentiality in accordance with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the daily treatment experience of each of his/her clients.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation as required.
  • Conduct assessments of clients at the time of admission and re-assessments as required.
  • Conduct mental status examinations.
  • Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the client’s history, signs, and symptoms.
  • Provide individual, couple/family, and group psychotherapy as needed.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversity of clients and staff.
  • Crisis intervention services, including 5150 determinations.
  • Treatment Planning.
  • Participation in Case Conference Reviews.
  • Complete Utilizations Review forms as required.
  • Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and approach of the 12-step model of recovery (AA, CA,NA,Alanon).
  • Participates in weekly staffing meeting
  • Will complete Utilization Reviews for ongoing client care, working with departments to convey client information in accordance with continued treatment recommendations

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to actively listen
  • Solid relationship building capabilities
  • Conduct mental status examinations and current re-assessments as required
  • Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the client’s history, signs, and symptoms
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and approach of the 12-step model of recovery (AA, CA, NA, Alanon, etc.)
  • Cultural Competence working with First Responder population
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversity of clients and staff
  • Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues
  • Ability to work as an integrated part of a treatment team
  • Timely and quality completion of Utilization Review as needed
  • Ability to manage crises and assess risk; including 5150 determinations
  • Excellent management of caseload (including groups, individual sessions, and family contact/sessions)
  • Strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines regarding patient confidentiality
  • Ability to establish appropriate boundaries with clients and staff
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity

Qualifications:

The following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Master or Doctorate degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or social science. Licensed with The California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC; or by the Board of Psychology as a Licensed Psychologist.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in evaluating and/or treating persons suffering from mental illness and/or substance abuse.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Health Screen and Current TB Negative Result.
  • Criminal Background Check Clearance.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office or other environmentally controlled room. Work may expose incumbent to contagious or infectious diseases, dangerous and volatile situations, or possible bodily injury.
