Position Overview: The Primary Therapist is responsible for performing client care activities as directed by the attending physician, Clinical Director & Treatment Team. As a Primary Therapist, you will provide group therapy and individual counseling, collaborate with the treatment team in the formulation of the treatment planning and assists in coordinating discharge planning. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, dedicated, and eager to grow! East Coast Recovery is a client and family centered organization. We are passionate about helping others achieve freedom from drugs and alcohol and we are hoping you are too!


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized treatment plans that address clients' unique needs, goals, and challenges.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients, utilizing various modalities.
  • Prepare, implement, and analyze treatment plans and psychiatric reports.
  • Engage in family therapy sessions to address family dynamics, provide education on addiction, promote healthy communication, and support the recovery process.
  • Collaborate with other clinical and medical team members to ensure coordinated care.
  • Document client progress, treatment interventions, and any significant observations in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Assess and manage crises or emergencies that may arise, applying appropriate intervention strategies to ensure client safety.
  • Participate in treatment planning meetings: Actively contribute to treatment team meetings, providing clinical insights, progress updates, and recommendations for the ongoing care of clients.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities and training to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure and certifications.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Education: Preferred graduate from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or health-related field.
  • Licensure: LADC II, LCSW, LICSW, LADC I, LMHC
  • Previous clinical experience within the substance abuse field (preferred)


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of alcohol and chemical dependency treatment, rehabilitation programs, and dual diagnosis.
  • Understanding of the range of treatment and interventions needed for chemically dependent individuals.
  • Active Listening Skills
  • Eager to grow, and receptive to feedback
  • Knowledge of software programs for personal computer use, especially word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills: Timely and consistent documentation, ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, establishing, and maintaining effective working relationships, gaining cooperation, and resolving conflicts.
