Primary Classroom Assistant Teacher (3-6 Year Olds)

Montessori Children’s House, an independent Montessori school on the East Side of Providence, seeks a Primary Classroom Assistant Teacher for a mid-year start. The ideal candidate is passionate about education and excited to be part of a small but bustling school community dedicated to fostering a love of learning. The Primary Classroom Assistant Teacher works with another classroom teacher, and all adults work cohesively as a team, providing a calm and nurturing environment for the children.

The Primary Classroom Assistant Teacher works with children in an authentic Montessori classroom of mixed ages, 3-6 year olds. Daily duties include assisting with arrival/dismissal, general classroom management, light cleaning and maintaining of the classroom, recess and lunch monitoring and nap coverage. Some lesson presentation is expected as well, such a group projects, reading with children, and general other interactions with math, language, geography and art materials.

Throughout the day, tasks may vary but constant supervision is expected. Montessori Children’s House strives to indulge a natural sense of curiosity in children and allow them to become self-disciplined and self-motivated in their learning process. Classroom Assistant Teachers may contribute to child development and record keeping through observations, team meetings and parent communication. We offer professional development, webinars and further training to teachers, on site or off.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday: 7:30am-4:00pm during the school year

• Cleaning/sanitizing as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree required
• Experience in school and with young children
• Must maintain required health and safety training, including First Aid/CPR
• BCI Background check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
