Prevention And Outreach Specialist

The Prevention and Outreach Specialist:

• This is a position to do outreach to the MSM of color community
•  Will conduct HIV testing, pre/post counseling, community outreach, referrals to social services, and facilitate groups.
•  Will also work with populations at higher risk for HIV infection; build partnerships with community partners; assist individuals to identify their risk for HIV infection or transmission, and how to change risky behaviors, and sustain positive risk reduction behavior changes; and conduct one-on-one and group education services.
• This position is full time and will require some weekend and evening hours.

Position Requirements
• Education and/or Experience:  Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Certifications (i.e. CPR): 500/501 HIV Testing and Training, Rapid Testing Certification, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.

• 1 to 2 years’ experience in HIV Services or HIV/STI Prevention Services or related health and human services field.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic computer software

• Must have reliable transportation and insurance with valid license in good standing

• Must be able to drive a 31’ mobile testing unit and have appropriate licensure and insurability.

• Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.

• Rapid Syphilis, Hepatitis C, and other STI certifications, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
