WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Preventative Maintenance Technician - Painter is responsible for maintaining the hotel's cosmetic appearance, including the interior/exterior painting, patching of drywall walls and ceilings, and furniture refinishing per hotel standards. Assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer / Maintenance Supervisor and review priorities and special projects.
Organize materials, tools, and equipment to perform daily assignments.
Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance program.
Check work orders for any problems.
Make rounds checking problem areas, note any paint touch-up needs or any safety concerns in the hotel.
Communicate requisition needs to the Chief Engineer.
Maintain par stock levels of standard paint, brushes wallpapers, stains, sign lettering and other supplies.
Repair and maintain all painted surfaces and items, including preparation and installation of all types of latex, enamels, etc.
Install and repair vinyl and wallpaper.
Refresh Guest Room furniture.
Maintain for proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools and supplies.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and shop.
Handle chemicals according to hotel requirements.
Ensure security of any assigned keys and two-way radios.
Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures.
Assist with room maintenance and respond promptly to tasks in HelloShift.
Demonstrate a commitment to servicing the needs of the guest and take initiative to speak to all guests.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
All other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or another member of management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, or abilities.
Experience: Minimum 6 months experience as a Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years’ Preventative Maintenance and painting experience.
Skills:
In depth understanding of paints, stains and finishes
Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and other systems
Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
Good problem-solving skills
Significant attention to detail
Excellent craftsmanship
Excellent troubleshooting skills

Physical & Mental Requirements:
Regularly required to climb ladders, stand, walk, talk, and hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms.
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard engineering tools and machines.
Requires normal range of hearing.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and place equipment, supplies, etc., weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.
Must be able to occasionally bend, kneel, twist and reach.
Must be able to occasionally use a step ladder.
Must be able to remain stationary or walk about for an extended period and/or for an entire 8+ hour work shift.
Must be able to operate handheld or power tools.
Must be able to maintain safety standards.
Must be willing to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
Work Environment:
Entirety of property—exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, extremes of heat and cold, noise, grease, paint, and numerous other environmental exposures associated with engineering function. The work environment may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, government agencies, etc.
