The Press Operator has overall accountability for all activities related to operating the hybrid label press efficiently, safely and accurately. This individual plays a vital role in our client satisfaction and meeting business goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Examines production schedules to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specification, colors and color sequences.
- Select and install printing plates, rollers, feed guides, gauges etc.. according to specifications.
- Monitor feeding, printing and racking processes of presses in order to maintain specified operating levels and detect malfunctions; make any necessary adjustments.
- Visually inspects and examine printed materials for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications and external defects. Advises supervisor of inconsistencies such as cutoff, folds, back-up, page folio, color, poor-quality raw material and register consistency.
- Maintain production speeds, waste and output (effective feet/minute). Ensures standard operating conditions are followed per job.
- Perform proper machine start-up and shut down procedures.
- Assist in making minor repair, cleans work area and equipment adjustments.
- Operates mechanical lifting devices such as pallet jacks to move materials.
- Loads and unloads materials from pallets by hand.
- Documents and maintains accurate count of printed product and spoilage.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Basic computer knowledge.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least one year of press experience (experience with digital printing a plus).

Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to lift 55 pounds.
- Must be able to perform well under deadline constraints and meet quality standards.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
- Color vision acuity.
- Job involves standing most of the shift.
- Mechanical aptitude and agility to move around press units.
