JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, the Machine Operator will assist with the setup, calibration, and operation of machines used in production processes. Works from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Inspects machining operations and finished product against specified drawings and tolerances using precision measuring tools. Determines and corrects minor machine adjustments. Performs simple routine maintenance and cleaning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • The ability to use appropriate measuring instruments for the task.
  • The ability to operate hand tools.
  • The ability to operate a variety of machines in the factory.
  • The ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day.
  • The ability to operate a forklift and crane.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS ONCE IN THE ROLE INCLUDE:
  • Demonstrated ability to learn the safe operation of machines such as a saw, shear, angle line, drill press, beveler, pipe bender, iron worker, brake press, laser.
  • Basic blueprint reading skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure, protractor, other measurement tools as needed.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

REQUIRED SKILL/ QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug screen.
  • Flexibility to work alternate schedules to accommodate project needs.
  • Must be able to interface with ERP/MRP systems required for production.
  • Must be able to prioritize personal safety, product quality and production schedules.
  • Must be able to identify and use basic hand tools.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Ability to read blue- prints.
