Program Description:
A state model, worksite, Early Education Program in downtown Boston, located in the Massachusetts Transportation Building by the Public Garden & Boston Common. TCC has been providing full day early education services since 1986, now providing full day Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten programs for children of Massachusetts State employees and the general public who work or live in the neighborhood; licensed for 78 children ages 3 months through age 5. State employees have first priority into the program.
The facility includes a beautiful outdoor roof-top play space that include climbing structures, sandbox, and plenty of space for the children to run, ride bikes, and enjoy the fresh air.
Each of our infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms have three full time teachers and the salary is based on a shorter work week of 36.25 hours.
Responsibilities:
- Join our professional team in providing high quality services to the children in our care to support the emotional, social, physical and intellectual development of each child.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers in the classroom to support the children in all areas of growth and development.
- Design, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate educational curriculum program consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Center and aligned with the EEC Early Childhood Program Standards and the Massachusetts Preschool Learning Experiences in preparation for PreK and kindergarten readiness.
- Create an enriching and inviting learning environment and interest areas in the classroom that promotes independence and encourages exploration, discovery and play.
- Develop an emergent curriculum based on the needs and interests of the children through creative activities and long-term projects.
- Record and document observations of children's learning and progress, adjusting weekly curriculum to meet the individual and group goals in the classroom.
- Complete assessments on the children three times a year using the Teaching Strategies Assessment system.
- Build partnerships with parents by providing regular communication, information and resources through daily conversation, emails, newsletters, informative articles, pictures and updates on activities and curriculum to encourage parents extending learning at home.
- Mentor Northeastern coop interns and student interns that support the classroom program. Provide input as policies and procedures are established through by sitting on committees with other staff, parents, and board members.
- Meet licensing requirements to ensure the well-being, health and safety of the children enrolled.
- Support the center’s overall program and mission by working cooperatively with all members of the administrative and teaching staff.

Education and Experience: DEEC Preschool Teacher Qualified required; associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
