Description
First Steps Academy is looking for professionals who are passionate about teaching and working with children and are excited about making a difference in their lives. We are seeking a STEAM Specialist to be responsible for creating and implementing lessons in science, engineering, math and technology that support age-appropriate academic and values curricula in a loving and safe environment. The STEAM Specialist is responsible for using regular observations and assessments to individualize learning experiences. The STEAM Specialist leads the classroom management including preparing supplies, cleaning, transitions and supervision. The STEAM Specialist coordinates efforts with the teaching team to ensure proper student instruction and social interactions. The STEAM Specialist is responsible for creating a positive parent partnership and serves as a resource to parents. The STEAM Specialist is responsible for performing all professional tasks in a manner that exemplifies school standards of courtesy, values and service to families.
Requirements
In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements, including:
- Bachelor's Degree in an education-related field preferred
- Specific expertise in STEAM preferred
- 2+ years' experience working in early childhood education preferred
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Pass pre-employment screenings

About First Steps Academy
First Steps Academy is a faith based preschool located in McLean Virginia, near the Tysons II mall. We value the importance of character development and academic preparedness and believe they are key contributors to helping prepare young children for future success in life. We serve families with Infants through Kindergartners and teach using our character education curriculum and A Beka's phonics based academic curriculum.
