Part-Time Preschool Paraprofessional
Position Purpose
The part-time Preschool Paraprofessional works under the direction of the classroom teacher to support all aspects of the PEA grant-funded preschool classroom.
Essential Functions
- Assists the teacher with set up and maintenance of an appropriate classroom environment, including organization of space and material storage
- Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with the students, classroom teacher, other district staff and students' families
- Assists with classroom management and supports the implementation of classroom behavioral management strategies and/or individual student behavior plans under the guidance of certificated staff
- Assists the classroom teacher in the implementation of the curriculum and assessment
- Work with students individually and in small groups to assist with the learning of content and skills introduced by the teacher
- Actively engages in classroom activities, supports learning through meaningful interactions during center time, gross motor time, meal times, transitions, etc.
- Manages cleanliness and order of classroom and classroom materials
- Assists student(s) with personal and hygienic care, when necessary.

- Effective writing and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with best practices for early childhood
- Ability to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, lift and carry objects and participate in daily classroom activities
Qualification Profile
- Highly qualified paraprofessionals as determined by Associate Degree, equivalent college credits or Para-Pro Assessment
- Fluent in English, bilingual a plus
