Preschool Assistant Teacher

Children’s Choice is a well-established Preschool with locations throughout San Diego County. We are looking for a caring Preschool Assistant Teacher to support and assist the Lead Teacher. The assistant teacher will follow the lead teacher’s instructions and guidance to gain experience and learn skills to make the classroom a welcoming and safe learning environment for the children.

The ideal candidate is passionate, has good communication skills and patience, is willing to learn, and is open to constructive feedback. The assistant teacher is comfortable taking over the class when the lead teacher is absent.
Responsibilities:

• Early Childhood Educator: instruct preschool-aged children by following company-selected curriculum (Zoo-phonics; training will be provided)
• Keep the classroom clean, neat, and organized following company policies and standards of care.
• Comply with all licensing rules and consult with the lead teacher when unsure.
• Follow Lead Teacher’s instructions, ask questions, and be willing to learn from a more experienced teacher. Communicate any concerns regarding a child to the Lead Teacher.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and teachers.

Qualifications:

• At least 12 Early Childhood Education units must include: Early Child Development; Child, Family & Community; Infant & Toddler; and any other Child Development class (i.e., Program & Curriculum, Child Health & Safety, etc.)
• Some previous experience with children is a plus.
• Passionate about working with children (infants through school age) and has a positive and patient demeanor.
• Must be able to work as part of a team and get along with various personalities.
• Pass DSS Background check.
• Willing to learn software applications and adaptable to change.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Able to work occasional overtime and attend scheduled staff meetings after hours.
• Must lift to 50 pounds, sit on the floor, and/or stand for extended periods.
