Prep Chef /Pastry Chef assistant are primarily responsible for Prepping and preparing a wide variety of foods, with daily duties and responsibilities including:
- Help Chefs and Pastry Chef with prepping, cooking and baking support as needed, prepping ingredients, scooping, dicing, etc.
- Collaborate with Executive Chef and Pastry Chef to ensure the food being presented is of the highest quality
- Ensure all food is produced with Health dept. guidelines
Requirements and skills
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, or the equivalent in real world experience.
- 2 or more years’ experience working within the food industry as a Prep-Chef, Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role.
- Working knowledge of cooking and baking techniques.
- Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g. grillers, slicer,oven,etc.).
- Follow recipes, measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, baking cookies, salads, etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment.
- Proven experience in quantity preparation.
- Must be very organized and able remain calm while juggling multiple tasks.
- Excellent time management abilities and ability to work independently.
- Must be able to work Flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary.
