Position Overview

The Prefab Manager is responsible for overseeing the warehouse and prefab operations. This includes directing operations, managing staff performance, liaising with the Design department and Foremen for on-time deliveries of prefab assemblies and warehouse materials. In addition, the Prefab Manager will drive Lean concepts to ensure we’re running efficiently.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Safety
    • Develop safety procedures and ensure they are being followed.
    • Ensure weekly safety reports are being completed
    • Partner with Safety Director for any and all questions regarding keeping a safe work site.
    • Report near miss and injuries- no matter how minor – timely and accurately.

 

  • Pre-Fabrication
    • Participate in build hand-off meeting with Design department and field foreman
    • Attend project meetings
    • Assign build #, determine build schedule, and hand off to shop foreman
    • Maintain full schedule for all existing builds
    • Ensure all material required for each build is being ordered
    • Estimate workhours required for build
    • Oversee build progress to ensure on-time delivery
    • Track comparison of estimated vs. actual hours per build
    • Schedule all shipping of prefab assemblies to meet required delivery dates
    • Follow-up on delivered pre-fabricated assemblies to ensure they are being installed per design.
    • Develop quality control procedures and ensure they are being followed.
    • Work with foremen, project managers and design team for creation of new prefab ideas
    • Continually strive to find new and more efficient means and methods to use in the Pre-Fab shop

 

  • Warehouse
    • Oversee operations including shipping, receiving, storage, overall maintenance machinery, dumpster renewals, pallet removals, and tool maintenance.
    • Create schedule and communicate with Warehouse Manager on deliveries and driver routes
    • Ensure proper training for forklift and drivers are being followed and we’re in compliance

 

  • Other responsibilities
    • Work with Human Resources to hire and manage staff performance; ensure onboarding and training programs are in place
    • Oversee Shop Foreman, Warehouse Manager and their teams
    • Enter time for all hourly staff weekly in payroll app
    • Share feedback from field with team for continuous improvement and/or recognition of a job well done
    • Learn and educate team on Lean methodology
    • Ensure prefab and warehouse are laid out optimally and cleanliness is maintained throughout
    • Follow established processes for purchasing and communicate to senior leadership on ideas that will help improve our operations

 

Position Requirements/Preferred Skills, Education and Experience

  • 10+ years electrical experience is required; 5-7+ years’ experience leading a team and delegating work. This includes coaching and setting clear expectations.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written – that promote “working together”
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow a process
  • Proactive communication of needs to ensure the department runs smoothly
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines; manage time and stay organized
  • Ability to make decisions and operate in a very fast-paced environment
  • Creative problem-solver; ability to think independently

Software Skills

  • Demonstrated experience using various software such as Microsoft 365
  • Will train on Construction related software such as Bluebeam

 

Language Skills

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to commute to field locations. The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
