Preconstruction and Estimating
JOB DESCRIPTION
Walker & Company, Inc. is a General Contractor and Construction Management firm serving Central Florida for 50 years with our commitment to providing the highest level of Client service. The opportunity we present is to become an integral part of the Preconstruction and Estimating Team responsible for providing these services for Commercial and Multi-family Construction Projects in the $10-$100 million cost range.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Interface with clients, architects, engineers and determine how we best serve them.
· Perform preliminary site inspections
· Prepare conceptual budgets early in the design process
· Provide further budgets at each stage of design
· Assist with construction schedules and milestones
· Define and develop scopes of work
· Read and interpret plans and specifications
· Identify plan discrepancies and scheduling contingencies
· Identify opportunities for value engineering
· Develop and maintain bid lists and relationships with local subcontractors
· Solicit and scope bids from subcontractors
· Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors
· Prepare final client bid packages and review with owners
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
· Proficient in quantity take-offs and square foot estimating
· Professional verbal and written communication skills
· Thorough understanding of current building construction systems, means and methods
· Familiarity with construction contracts, and bonding and insurance requirements
· Strong skills in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook
· On-screen take-off experience (strongly preferred) utilizing Planswift, Bluebeam and Procore.

· 5 years experience in estimating, preconstruction, field or management in Construction
