Precious Metals Trader, HSBC Bank USA N.A., New York, NY:
Responsible for supporting the Global Regional Head Trading with Precious Metal Spot, forwards, swaps and leases trading. Quoting in gold (XAU), silver (XAG), palladium (XPD), platinum (XPT) and rhodium (XRH) in various currencies to facilitate franchise business. Effectively maintaining various risk positions and manage position limits, providing liquidity to clients and markets in order to maximize total revenue of trading profit plus commission in the US Time Zone. Inventory Management & funding of the lease portfolio, trading directional risk and dollar value of a basis point (DV01) risk related to the metals within mandated risk limit. Communication with sales desk and assists in resolving any settlement problems, ensures ticket entry completion and provides general trade support, as necessary. Provide market analysis and comments related to the metals market and technical analysis specific for each country using market intelligence tools and know how related to each of the products. Ensuring all trades are booked to front office position keeping system on the day they are executed correctly with the associated lifecycle management.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, $226,762 to $236,762 per year.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Math, Science, Finance or Economics or a related field and 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate related work experience.
Employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Math, Science, Finance or Economics or related field and 3 years of related work experience.
Must have 3 years experience in:
- Metals spot, derivatives pricing, market and credit risk;
- Supporting risk management of the precious metal book;
- Creating pricing tools on excel for Precious Metals swaps, cross currency swaps and commodity futures curve valuations;
- Providing market analysis and relevant commentary;
- Creating daily content and analysis of the Precious Metals market to be shared with clients and colleagues;
- Reviewing and drafting technical analysis as well as relevant current events to provide an overview of the market and relevant trade ideas to clients;
- FX and metal terms of dealing;
- Managed pricing of spot, swap for Precious Metals; and,
- VBA programming.
