Summary
The Power BI Developer is responsible for the creation of MS Power Platform using agile development methodologies, along with deep knowledge of the technical and functional aspects of the supporting technologies in the ecosystem. The goal is to automate manual business tasks, create new solutions, and remove operational overhead using cutting edge tools so that the client service staff can add more business value to our clients and back office/administrative staff can work more efficiently.
This is an exciting opportunity to be on the ground floor as we embark on a new Enterprise Data Warehouse and self-service journey. The Power BI Developer will work with the Business Analysts, Data Management Team, Executives, and Business Stakeholders to identify and prioritize critical data assets, as well as the modeling, analysis, and design of data delivery methodologies that should be applied, all while maintaining a "single source of truth". Additionally, this individual will own data governance and master data management documentation and processes for specific lines of business.
The Power BI Developer supports the end-user community in the use of all business intelligence tools and will assist staff with data management and reporting system maintenance and troubleshooting. The Power BI Developer may also work with outside vendors to provide and collect data needed to meet contractual obligations, reporting requirements, and/or company goals. This role requires strong technical ability as well as strong business acumen.
This position can be based in Kent, Washington or Wilsonville, Oregon.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to develop, research, and implement solutions across the Power Platform
  • Clearly articulate the vision for solution and solve problems related to system and environmental limitations
  • Design end-to-end solutions that improve collaboration, productivity, and knowledge sharing
  • Perform requirements analysis, data integration, data modeling, design, and development to deliver short, and long term, data solutions
  • Participate in and drive continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including developing processes for automation of updates to dashboards and documenting problems, changes, and solutions
  • Analyze and solve complex business problems, breaking down the work into actionable tasks, and working with stakeholders to plan and communicate delivery commitments
  • Recommend/set standards to improve quality of data and speed of analysis
  • Utilize connectors, leverage the AI Builder, design Power BI dashboards, build canvas apps, build Power Apps portals, and leverage Power Automate to create business process flows
  • Develop data models for Power Platform applications, including connecting tables, databases, and webservices
  • Clearly and effectively document code/solutions and provide effective/concise input for business/user documentation
  • Visualize and document infrastructure and system design specifications using architecture diagrams
  • Lead quality control and peer review processes to ensure integrity of the data displayed on reports
  • Integrate reports/dashboard into other applications using embedded analytics like Power BI service (SaaS), or by API automation
  • Maintain and assist in data model documentation, data dictionary, data flow, data mapping and other MDM and Data Governance documentation
  • Provide training or guidance as needed to end users as part of the introduction and support of the Power BI platform
  • Manage Power Platform Administration activities including Capacity Creation and Management, Deployment Pipeline creation, Data Connection creation and update, User and Group access provisioning

  • Conversant with ""single source of truth" mindset

Preferred Knowledge/Skills
  • Languages/Data Formats (SQL, Python, C#, PHP, Java/JavaScript, PowerShell, HTML/CSS, VBA, VBScript)
  • Technologies/Methodologies (Microsoft Azure DevOps {Boards, Repos, Test Plans, CI/CD Automation} or other similar solutions, API Integration tools {MuleSoft, Apigee, etc}, .NET {Framework, Core, MVC}, ETL Tools {i.e Alteryx, SSIS, Informatica})
  • Knowledge of the Data Management Life Cycle
  • Familiarity with agile software delivery methodologies such as Scrum
  • Experience with Maintaining source code and managing a CI/CD pipeline

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days/hours of work vary and may include weekends overtime as necessary.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer or business-related field (Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, etc.)
  • 3-5+ years MS Power Platform development experience, including Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI Report Server, Microsoft Report Builder, DAX, and Power Query M formula language
  • 3-5+ years of experience writing SQL - must demonstrate proficiency in understanding data sources and shaping data for performance in the BI presentation layer > this is a requirement for ALL power BI developers
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence; including reporting, data modeling, data integration, and data quality practices
  • Familiar with agile software delivery methodologies

Preferred Education and Experience.
  • Desire to learn and continually improve self and others through knowledge sharing
  • 1 years plus of Azure CI/CD experience
  • 2 years plus of Azure Architecture experience
  • Azure Functions experience
  • Microsoft - Power BI and/or Azure Certifications

Compensation
  • Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.

Employees are also eligible for 80 hours of vacation every year and 7-8 days of paid holidays throughout the calendar year (depending on location).
