Overview:

This role reports to the Power Amplifier Engineering Manager.  The ideal candidate is someone with a engineering background who has a technical knowledge and experience in mixed signal circuits including power, analog and digital elements. This role includes innovating solutions for programs supporting new product introduction and production support activities. This Engineer must have a strong understanding of basic power building blocks. The Engineer creates, validates and documents the circuit designs based on the performance specifications, schedule, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. The Engineer collaborates with Thermal, Reliability, Mechanical, RF, and System Engineering teams, contributing in identifying key risk factors and driving requirements to ensure the design is optimized within the whole system.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in performance specification and tradeoff decisions to achieve specification compliance in order to generate designs that are highly repeatable meeting cost and schedule targets.
  • Design Power Conversion and mixed signal circuit schematics using CAD/CAE tools and interfacing with Design staff to complete layout activities resulting in comprehensive documentation and Bill of Material packages.
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation ensuring adequate margin against performance specifications and compatibility with next higher assembly performance
  • Operate general lab equipment including oscilloscopes and network analyzers to build, test, tune and troubleshoot Circuits.  To optimize circuit performance in self-guided manner while documenting the results.
  • Work collaboratively with the other engineers to enable cross-functional teams to optimize product performance within cost and schedule goals.
  • Assist Product transition from engineering development, through new product introduction and into full-rate production, including writing Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) and assembly of the Circuits.
  • Ability to work safely around high voltages and high currents.
  • Ability to support up to 10% travel.
Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university
  • 2+ years of experience in Analog and Power conversion circuit simulation and product development
  • 1+ year of SPICE circuit simulation experience
  • 1+ year of experience with mixed signal analog and digital design as related to power conversion and control interfaces
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance


Preferred:

  • MS degree in Electrical engineering with dissertation in Power Electronics
  • Design experience in Power components and Power semiconductors
  • Experience with Product transition from Engineering to Manufacturing, including product documentation and authoring Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)
  • RF circuit design familiarity
  • Altium PCB layout experience
  • Familiarity with designing for military applications
  • Good oral and written communication skills to interface with key internal and external customers
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
