About You and this Role
As a Power Distribution Engineer at Dow's Freeport Site, you will serve as a technical leadership resource for the Texas Operations (TXO) Power Distribution Operations by applying technical skills and experience to optimize site electrical operations, resolve Power Distribution related challenges and enable safe and uninterrupted power to Dow's largest manufacturing complex. Requires broad conceptual and working knowledge and experience in electrical power transmission and distribution disciplines to perform a range of work assignments.
The Texas Operations Power Distribution system operates an extensive distribution network at the 138kV, 15kV and 2.4kV levels with a 345kV tieline to the external ERCOT transmission system. The system distributes approximately 1100MW's to our partners with most of the power being generated by our internal operating power plants. This power system is operated by a team that includes the Power Dispatch function and our Operations and Maintenance organizations.
Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem solving skills and technical expertise.
  • Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies. Acts as a technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Collaboration with the Energy Improvement Director and Energy Tech Center for identifying, documenting, and communicating Electrical Distribution Gaps
  • Provide front end Manufacturing Rep support for large electrical projects
  • Support overall technical development of our TXO Power Distribution Team
  • Performs electrical studies using ETAP (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, etc.) to appropriately evaluate any changes to the distribution system
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities aligned to the PSTP (Plant Specific Technology Plan) and also support the capital plan for the facility
  • Develops business opportunity plans and other key deliverables in order to gain stakeholder alignment and secure funding for new improvement projects

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience in a Power Distribution role preferred
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
