Summary
The Department of Health Informatics and Data Science and the Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR) at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for two immediate Postdoctoral Research positions opening in medical informatics for a one-year tenure. We are encouraging applicants with strong research background in data science, machine learning, or natural language processing with a focus on biomedical applications.
Expectations
The selected candidate will work with Dr. Tootooni to conceptualize research studies, design methods and modeling, perform data analysis, attend/present at international conferences, and draft manuscripts (papers and proposals). This is an excellent opportunity for junior scientists to engage in hands-on programming, applying artificial intelligence to healthcare practice, and to thrive in multi-institutional collaborative projects with esteemed scholars. Dr. Tootooni’s lab comprises a diverse group of twelve members, including students, analysts, biostatisticians, and research assistants. This multicultural team represents various educational levels from undergraduate students to Postdoctoral Researchers, promoting a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. This aligns with Loyola’s mission to foster an academic community valuing social justice and respecting the dignity of all members. Particularly for candidates aiming for an academic career in health or biomedical informatics, this position offers the chance to collaborate with top scientists and clinicians from institutions like the Mayo Clinic, Wake Forest School of Medicine, Loyola University Medical Center, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
This is a one-year Postdoctoral Research position, extendable annually based on budget availability and performance. Interested individuals should submit the required application materials (C.V., 1-page letter of interest, and contacts of three references) Only candidates who apply through the LUC portal will be considered. For inquiries about the position, please email Dr. Samie Tootooni at mtootooni@luc.edu. We will review applications until the position is filled. Applications will be evaluated as they are received and completed. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2024 or until the position is filled.
Other duties as assigned.
