Description:
The Chemical and Life Science Engineering Department of the College of Engineering seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for the Postdoctoral Research Associate - Syngas to Methanol position. Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop and expand upon a diversified technical skill set while making a positive contribution to CO2 utilization, especially in Syngas to Methanol conversion. The projects offer opportunities for both academia and industrial collaborations.
Research projects for this position will involve the conversion of Syngas to valuable chemicals such as methanol. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design of efficient catalysts for syngas conversion. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in the synthesis of green methanol and/or other chemicals. In this position, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with a group of scientists and engineers.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
- Experience in synthesis gas reactions
- Experience in catalyst design
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to mentor junior team members, and ensure the highest levels of laboratory safety
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and short turnaround times
