POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the supervision of the Director of Regenerative Medicine Research Department, the Postdoctoral Research Associate must possess an in-depth knowledge of a stem cell field, process, or discipline and may involve organizing and implementing complex research plans, development of methods of research, testing and data collection, analysis, and evaluation, and writing reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content. The duties will require the exercise of independent research activities within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct advanced experimental procedures utilizing a range of laboratory techniques such as tissue and cell culture, cardiac cell differentiation, molecular biology assays, microscopy, histology, and potentially including more specialized techniques (spatial transcriptomics and sequencing). Animal handling and surgery may be required. (35%)
- Rigorously document experimental procedures and outcomes in accordance with best scientific practices. Perform detailed data analysis, including calculations and graphical/tabulation of results, maintaining high standards of record-keeping and notebook management. (15%)
- Support staff scientists in the design, analysis, and interpretation of research protocols. Contribute to the development of innovative strategies for protocol improvements. (10%)
- Manage and coordinate the implementation of specialized research protocols as directed, ensuring the efficient use of resources and alignment with project goals. (15%)
- Effectively communicate research findings through both oral and written summaries, as required. Prepare data for publication in scientific journals and presentations at conferences, highlighting significant experimental results. (20%)
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment in compliance with departmental and institutional policies. Maintain personal and communal workspaces to support efficient and hazard-free research activities. (5%)
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in a relevant research area required
- 3 years’ experience is preferred
- Experience in a cell culture
- Experience in bioengineering is preferred
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required
