Postal Connection is hiring for a POSTAL CLERK position. We have two wonderful locations within minutes from each other in La Quinta and Indio CA. We are looking for someone flexible in that area. The ideal candidate has previous retail sales experience, strong computer and internet skills, a high school diploma or GED, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor, and a professional appearance. They must be a fast learner who makes an effort to learn all aspects of the business in the shortest possible time.

Job Duties and Requirements:

Standing for long periods of time.

Ability to lift various packages ( up to 50+ lbs)

Receive incoming mail, packages, and deliveries from various carriers.

Sort and categorize incoming mail and packages for box holders.

Ensure the safe handling of fragile or sensitive items.

Distribute mail and packages to the appropriate recipients.

Maintain a record of all incoming and outgoing deliveries.

Provide courteous and professional customer service.

Assist with inquiries regarding mail and package deliveries.

Keep the mail room organized, clean, and well-maintained.

Ensure that mailroom equipment, such as postage meters and sorting machines, is in good working condition.

Monitor the mail room for security and safety, ensuring that only authorized individuals access mail and packages.

Work with external couriers and postal services to coordinate pickups, drop-offs, and shipping needs.

Maintain an inventory of postage, shipping supplies, and other related materials.

Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages.

Prepare reports as needed to track mail and package volume and distribution.

Stay up to date on mail handling regulations and compliance requirements, especially if handling sensitive or confidential information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in mailroom operations or a similar role is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
• Knowledge of mailroom equipment and procedures.
• Ability to lift and move packages of various sizes and weights.
• Knowledge of safety and security procedures for mail handling.
• Communication with Mangers is a must
• NOTARY PUBLIC LICENSE is a PLUS!

Be at least 18 years old
Be a legal resident of California
Not have been convicted of a felony
Not have been convicted of a disqualifying misdemeanor
(see list of disqualifying offenses on the California Secretary of State website)
where not more than 10 years have passed since the completion of probation

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Use standard office equipment, including: computer, phone, copier/scanner, fax, etc.
• Be stationary for periods of time
• Relocate up to (75) pounds

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL:

• Between normal operating hours: seasonal hours Monday-Friday 8:30 am- 5:30pm Saturdays 9-4
• Regular Business hours Monday-Friday 9:00 am- 5:00pm Saturday 9-14-8 hours a day (hours worked are flexible)
