POST DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE

LRDC - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23009002)
This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences.
The Evaluation for Learning (EFL) group at the University of Pittsburgh’s Learning Research and Development Center is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Associate to join our expanding team! The position is focused on providing mixed methods evaluation support for 2-3 projects including a study of three districts’ efforts to increase access to dual enrollment courses and a study of a post-secondary success coaching initiative implemented in three high schools.
The Postdoctoral Associate position is a one-year, full-time non-tenured appointment beginning on May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, and potentially extendable based on performance and funding availability. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
This postdoctoral research experience provides the opportunity to work across 2-3 mixed methods evaluation projects centered around equitable access to post-secondary education. The experience will provide the successful candidate with mentored evaluation design, management, implementation, and reporting experience with a collaborative team.
The Postdoctoral Associate will:
§ Work collaboratively and inclusively with a diverse team to contribute to the entire continuum of educational evaluation practice from conceptualization of study analytic approaches, data analysis and visualization, and reporting.
§ Provide evaluation project management and drive inclusive, rigorous, and reflective practice within our team and with external partners.
§ Apply and extend qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting skills to accurately and effectively execute evaluation project goals.
§ Apply and extend reporting and communication approaches to effectively share findings with practitioner and academic audiences.
Requirements:
§ Professional interest in equitable access to and broadening participation in postsecondary education
§ Doctoral degree in education, evaluation, learning sciences, assessment, or related field
§ Project evaluation management skills

§ Research/data collection skills including:

  • Data collection design and administration (e.g., interviews, focus groups, document analysis, survey design)
  • Qualitative data analysis
  • Quantitative data analyses for large data sets (e.g., descriptive and inferential statistics, causal analyses preferred)
  • Data visualization

This position requires Pennsylvania Child Protection Clearances.
Location in Pittsburgh preferred but not required.
