JOB TITLE:
Police Dispatcher Part-Time
JOB PURPOSE:
To answer emergency and non-emergency phone calls and coordinate the response of law enforcement officers to crime and accident scenes; to provide assistance to officers by answering queries about things like drivers license or warrant information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include dispatching officers, answering both emergent and non-emergent telephone calls, checking weapons in/out and various other duties.
Initiate and/or receive immediate response to both emergency and non-emergency calls/situations via 911 emergency phone lines, elevator and campus emergency call boxes, hearing impaired line, university directory assistance console, and on a walk-in basis to the Police Department.
Receive public safety radio transmissions using a multi-band law enforcement network to dispatch police officers, security guards, student service units, monitor other radio frequencies utilized by city, county and state law enforcement agencies; maintain logs according to FCC regulations. Monitor various alarm systems.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Graduate or GED
Experience: Must be able to type and have knowledge of computers.
Other requirements: Applicants must be mature and dependable.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Dispatcher or the ability to obtain within two years of employment.
Certified Law Enforcement Telecom Operator or the ability to obtain within two years of employment.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and/or written communications skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
